Ghanaian Filmmaker Thompson Lordson Makes History at Fespaco
Thompson Lordson, a former student of the Institute of Film and Television (IFT), formerly known as NAFTI, has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the only Ghanaian student filmmaker selected to represent Ghana at this year's prestigious Fespaco film festival in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Thompson, who studied film directing at IFT, won the Best Student Film Director award at his graduation in 2024 for his film "EBU" (Lost). "EBU" has since gained international recognition, screening at several film festivals and now, the esteemed Fespaco.
IFT, a renowned film school, has a proud legacy of nurturing talented filmmakers who have made significant contributions to the industry, both locally and globally. Notable alumni include Ivan Quashigah, Peter Sedufia, Shirley Frimpong Manso, and Kyei Baffour, among others.
Thompson expressed his gratitude to his lecturers at IFT for their unwavering support and dedication, as well as the institute's Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Marian Mantey Gebara for her assistance throughout his journey.
He encourages aspiring filmmakers and media enthusiasts to pursue their passion at IFT, where they can receive top-notch training and mentorship.
