Prof. Kwesi Yankah Visits Nafti

Former Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education and Former Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Kwesi Yankah paid a visit to the National Film and Television Institute. The purpose of the visit was a familiarization tour for Prof. Kwesi Yankah upon the request of the management of the National Film and television Institute. The tour began a meeting with the Institute’s Management and Heads of Department. Prof. Yankah.

The Rector of The National Film and Television Institute welcomed Prof. Kwesi Yankah and shared the general overview of the Institute and how it operates. The Rector, Dr. Samuel Nai spoke on the need for expedient action on the development of Nafti’s infrastructure especially the Nafti’s uncompleted building ‘The Monster’ and also the remodeling and building of Nafti’s Studio 2 and Student’s hostel facility. He added that the buildings when completed, will help ease the heavy pressure on the limited facilities the institute currently has.

In the meeting, Prof. Kwesi Yankah spoke about the Nafti peculiarity in the kind of training it provides and how he now understands the challenges that comes with it. He also was very much appreciative of the efforts Management and Staff of Nafti had put in place to ensure the quality of training of students was top notch despite these challenges.

Prof. Kwesi Yankah was marveled by the works of some of the current students that were exhibited to him during this meeting and said ‘You can see the great potential these students have. I’m amazed by the quality of works they have produced.’ After the meeting with Nafti’s Management and Heads of Department, Prof. Kwesi Yankah’s tour continued with the inspection of the Television studio and editing suite at Nafti’s Studio 3 where Prof was introduced to the various filming and post production equipment Nafti student are trained with. Prof. Kwesi Yankah also had the privilege to observe a student’s production that was ongoing in the television studio during his tour of the facilities. A visit was also made to Nafti’s Studio 2 which houses the Broadcast Journalism department. The team ended the tour at the Rector’s office where Prof. Kwesi Yankah expressed the pleasure the warm reception he had had on his first visit to Nafti and the hope that Nafti’s infrastructure challenge is addressed as soon as possible so the staff and students would have a better teaching and learning environment to do more amazing works. Professor Kwesi Yankah also assured the Management and Heads of Department of the National Film and Television Institute of his utmost support to ensure that, the challenges the Institute currently faces are well addressed
