The professional journalism track prepares students for careers in news reporting, editing and production in radio, television, or online media. The track is based on a liberal arts foundation, knowledge of the social context, in which the professionals are practised, and the skills and experiences needed to succeed in the marketplace of broadcast journalism. The programme includes courses such as newsgathering, reporting and writing, public affairs and in-depth reporting, writing for the electronic media and electronic news production. Graduates from this programme are qualified for positions as reporters, editors, and producers in broadcast journalism. Students in the journalism track choose a radio, television or online focus. To successfully complete the BA in Broadcast Journalism, students must also complete the school’s liberal studies, pre-major preparatory, communication theories, and internship requirements.
